FAQs

  • Why is the booking fee non-refundable?

Most of our bookings are made 6 months to a year in advance – we hardly ever receive last minute requests. We take a booking fee, which also covers your first night, to secure that apartment for you alone, turning away scores of other requests for any of your chosen days.

If there is a cancellation for whatever reason, we are unable to re-let that individual accommodation and the apartment remains empty and unpaid for.

  • Why is there a three night minimum?

Our guest spaces are large, and require much time, sometimes a whole day, between departures and arrivals to complete cleaning, mending, laundering and replacing linen, and to supply fresh provisions.

  • Why is last check-in 8.30 pm?

Planes are often delayed, re-routed or even cancelled. 8.30 pm gives a possible three hour buffer before disturbing our other guests, who may be sleeping.

  • What is the earliest check-in time?

Everyone is welcome to leave their luggage from 8.30 am onwards, however occupation of the rooms depends on many factors which will be discussed at the beginning of booking.

  • Are the rooms self contained?

All guest quarters are self-contained with own toilet/shower room and kitchenette.

  • What time is breakfast?

Breakfast can be whenever you wish. Each room has catering possibilities. We provide a good supply of breakfast provisions to get you started so you don't have to go shopping as soon as you arrive. If you wish you can add your favourite goodies to to see you through your stay.

  • What provisions are provided?

Tea, coffee including decaf (instant or cafetiere/French press), hot chocolate, milk, biscuits, bread, butter, jams, porridge, cereal, muesli and fruit juice, and all the basic larder requirements for home cooking.

  • I’m allergic to certain foods.

If we have prior notice of your dietary requirements we will try to accommodate them within your provisions.

  • Do our towels get changed daily?

The current global climate crisis has had a great effect on hotels around the world, so although they are changed often, we prefer not to do so on a daily basis.

  • Is smoking allowed?

This is a non smoking establishment.

  • Is there an elevator to the top floor?

Our very tall house is Georgian (1780s built) and has no disabled access. The top guest rooms are 49 steps from the front door, but we are always on hand to carry your luggage upstairs.

  • Do you have King or Emperor sized beds?

The bedrooms are not large enough to accommodate oversize beds, so the double beds are the standard 4ft 6 inches wide, and the singles are 3ft.

  • Will my electrical appliances work?

There are international adapters in every guest room.

  • Do I need to bring my hairdryer?

    • All rooms have hairdryers and ironing facilities.

  • Is there internet connection?

All rooms have televisions and free wireless internet access (No computer equipment is provided)

  • Where’s the laundrette/laundromat?

There is a Laundrette/Laundromat a ten minute walk away on Lambeth Walk, service wash for £8.50, OR very close by is an excellent dry cleaners who also do your laundry, but it costs £18. You choose.

  • We are always on hand if you have any other questions or queries
